the setting: old school A frame building on Chain Bridge road in McLean VA. 'moombl' parked in the lot. simple, effective cow painting as logo. his and hers tasting spoons.
not pictured: an eclectic array of antique chairs arranged around dining tables that were cloaked in bright & highly patterned table cloths. bright & cheerful.

the goods: creamy! goopey! and sweet, sweet, sugary sweet! the ice cream flavors to choose from were imaginative and true to their names. i sampled the 'salted cream with pralines' and with surprised delight found that the slight saltiness of the cream toned down the often overbearing sweetness of its partnered pralines. but despite my love affair with the praline ice cream, i opted for black cherry chocolate chip and megajolt to fill my waffle cone.
while enjoying my selection with a sampling spoon, i found that the texture was very playful. my friend and i described it as 'goopey' but i overheard a patron at an adjacent table explaining 'ice cream molecules' to his son and how they adhere to one another. so whatever the attraction is that this ice cream has for itself, it was a delight to coat my mouth with. my only complaint with the flavors that i chose would be that they were a little too sweet for my palate but maybe that just means i should go with a salted option next time.

I've been to this ice cream parlor and I love it! You should have tried the butter pecan! It's not too sweet.
